Finally, I have just been looking at some property auction stats which suggest that property prices there are falling at a faster rate than they are out here in the real world. 3,993 properties went under the hammer between June and August. They sold for an average of £130,400 which is 23.4 per cent less than the average 170,300 achieved for the properties at the same time last year.

Martin Ellis, Chief Economist at the Halifax explains why, "I would expect house prices at auctions to fall more quickly because you have proportionately more distressed sales, such as repossessed properties."
