OK. Because there are two approaches to ClickBank - selling your product through affiliates,or being an affiliate and selling other peoples product - to explain how it works it’s best to take each element in turn.

Here’s how it works...

Let’s say you’ve written an e-book on how to make money selling second-hand cars.We’ll call it Second-Hand Car Seller.

You join the ClickBank network as a publisher.You feature your book Second- Hand Car Seller on the ClickBank website and offer a 50% commission to any ClickBank affiliates (sellers) who successfully promote and sell copies of your book.

Simple so far, huh? And this is where it gets really good.

You see, let’s say 30 affiliates who are in the ClickBank network feature your Second Hand Car Seller book on their own websites.

Every time a customer clicks on their website, that customer is referred to your site where they can purchase a copy of Second-Hand Car Seller and download it. The transaction goes through ClickBank, they check the sale is all above board and they work out the various percentages and - here’s the good part - they pay you your money.

Bingo.You haven’t had to deal with any advertising... you haven’t had to go searching for customers... all you had to do was log on the details of Second-Hand Car Seller onto the ClickBank site and you’ve got sales.

(And by the way, if you make any sales through your own publishing site, ClickBank take the affiliate commission out of the equation and you get the money yourself.)

As you can see, ClickBank offers a simple way for you to sell your products to potential customers, without the difficulty of searching them out.

But what if you don’t have a product but you could generate a nice big list of customers?

Selling other people’s products through ClickBank

Now, you’ve probably guessed that becoming an affiliate basically means you’re on the other end of the process I’ve just described - and you’d be right.

As a ClickBank affiliate, you’ll be offered the various products available that you can then promote on your website or through any email channels you’ve developed.

When you promote a product to your customers, if they purchase the product through your referral, you’ll be paid the percentage commission that the publisher originally offered you. So, in the case of Second-Hand Car Seller, you’d get 50% of the sale price.

The advantage of being an affiliate is quickly obvious: you don’t need to worry about creating products; you can just sell them and take a cut.
